Grimley: 2 Garganey (1 drake) at Wagon Wheel Lane Pits on south pit this evening then flew to north pit but no further sign (Brian Stretch).

Dunhamptead: Grasshopper Warbler reeling from hedge at Lower Saleway Farm Meadow SSSI early morning (Dave Walker).

Bredon Hill: possible Black Kite circling near Woollas Hall at 12.25pm then drifted off east.

Teme Valley: PURPLE HERON flew west along River Teme towards Stanford Court Lake but lost to view behind hillside and not seen to land (Brett Westwood). Please note: Stanford Court Lake is strictly private.


May 5th

Bredon Hill: BLACK KITE circling low over grazing pasture near top of northern escarpment at 4.05pm viewed at 2km range then spiralled up to 600m and lost to view before being relocated drifting from Eckington to Great Comberton and again lost to view heading towards Pershore (PF Whitehead).

Bredon's Hardwick: Whimbrel at main pit on island late afternoon (Francis Peplow).

Grimley: Osprey flew north over Camp Lane Pits early afternoon and circling over Church Farm Pits then flew north (Martin Flack). Also female Whinchat still (Gert Corfield).

Ripple: male Blue-headed Wagtail still on south lake island this morning then flew off east (Andy Warr).

Grimley: male Marsh Harrier flew north over Camp Lane Pits at 8.15am (Craig Reed) and Whimbrel flew north early morning (Patch Hopcroft). Also female Whinchat at west end of northern causeway (Laurie Ison).

Holt: Whimbrel still near Sling Pool early morning (Rob Clipson).

Pershore: Whinchat still at Avon Meadows NR this morning (Paul Rhodes).

Ripple: male Blue-headed Wagtail on south lake island this morning and 3 Whimbrels feeding in grass along east shore of south pit (Andy Warr). Also Marsh Harrier (immature) over south pit at c6pm then circled high and drifted south in to Gloucestershire (Gavin Peplow).

Walton Hill: Wood Warbler singing in trees in paddock on eastern side of Walton Hill Farm briefly at 8.25am but no further sign by 8.55am (P Jones).

Clifton: Whimbrel in field between main pit and north pit early afternoon - wearing a white ring on bird's left tibia (Adam Holliday).

Grimley: male Whinchat at Camp Lane Pits on west side this afternoon (Patch Hopcroft).

Holt: Whimbrel in field and seasonal flash just north of Sling Pool this afternoon (Patch Hopcroft) and still present this evening (Craig Reed).

Pershore: Whinchat at Avon Meadows NR this morning (Paul Rhodes).

Redditch: Great White Egret near Abbey Stadium flew north-west at c10.30am - may have flown from new large pool opposite Bovis Homes development (Pearl McNeil).

Abberton: Whimbrel flew north calling at 11.30pm (Francis Peplow).

Hollywood: no sign of Golden Oriole at Hollywood Golf Course early morning (Jim Winsper).

Upper Bittell Reservoir: Osprey circled for 5 minutes at 11.30am then drifted high SE and Greenshank (Chris Thomson).

Upton Warren NR: Mediterranean Gull (1s) at the Flashes this evening (Mike Wakeman).

Kington: male Whinchat (Francis Peplow). 

Ripple: Whimbrel flew north late afternoon (Gavin and Francis Peplow).

Upper Bittell Reservoir: Osprey flew over at 11.30am (Josh Toogood).

Upton Warren NR: Mediterranean Gull (2s) at the Moors Pool (Phil Wood) and Grasshopper Warbler reeling at North Moors.

Wick: BLACK KITE just ESE of village circling over road kill on B4084 just east of layby 12-12.05pm then mobbed by corvids and drifted off west and no further sign (Brian Stretch). The third county record; previous records being one over Defford on May 4th 1986 and presumably the same individual over Hartlebury the following day.

Bredon Hill: 2 Ring Ouzels along northern escarpment this morning and 2 Whinchats (Neil Duggan).

Clifton: Greenshank still this morning (Gavin O'seachnasaigh and Nick Skilbeck) and Black-tailed Godwit (Nick Skilbeck).

Grimley: male Marsh Harrier through Camp Lane Pits at c9.30am (Mick Cooper and Jon Forfar).

Ombersley: 2 Whinchats just SSE of village along Sinton Lane near Moat Farm this morning (Dave Walker).

Ripple: 17 Black-tailed Godwits this morning (Nick Skilbeck).

Throckmorton: Grasshopper Warbler reeling at landfill site early morning (Francis Peplow).

Upper Bittell Reservoir: 3 Whinchats: 1 in north fields; 2 in south-west fields.

Worcester: Grasshopper Warbler at Battenhall Road reeling in hawthorn and scrub alongside railway line between houses and arable field but no further sign after 1pm (Simon Rushall).

Bredon's Hardwick: adult Little Gull flew north through main pit at c6.40pm (Gavin Peplow).

Castlemorton Common: Grasshopper Warbler still reeling early morning (Mick Woodward).

Kemerton Lake NR: adult Little Gull at c6.55pm - same individual previously noted at Bredon's Hardwick (Gavin Peplow).

Walton Hill: 2 Crossbills flew over east at 8.40am (P Jones).

Wassell Grove: male Ring Ouzel in horse paddock opposite golf club entrance this morning (Sam Clement).

Ripple: Grasshopper Warbler reeling in hedge running south from cattle grid along entrance track between Uckinghall and fishermens' car park this morning but no sign of Curlew Sandpiper on north lake (Andy Warr).

Ripple: Curlew Sandpiper still along NW shore of north lake this morning (Edward Betteridge) and still present at 12.30pm on small island on north lake (Alan Harris) and still present at 5pm (Andy & Sue Gibbons).

Grimley: Water Pipit still at Wagon Wheel Lane flood this morning, plus 2 Egyptian Geese still and 2 female Goldeneye still at Camp Lane Pits but again no sign of female American Wigeon in area and no sign of any drake Smew.

Holt: again no sign of any drake Smew on fishing pool on south side of lane to Holt church opposite Sling Pool.

Lower Moor: drake Red-crested Pochard at Aztec water sports lake (Tom Parkin and Edward Betteridge).

Redditch: juvenile BLACK-THROATED DIVER still at Arrow Valley Lake this morning. Also Pink-footed Goose again at 8.30am and female Goldeneye still (Mike Hails).

Ripple: 4 Goldeneye late morning (Andy Warr).

Shenstone: female Merlin alomg Heath Lane late morning then flew towards Stanklyn Lane (Jason Kernohan).

Throckmorton: Yellow-legged Gull (1w) in field between south side of landfill site and A44 (Tom Parkin and Edward Betteridge).

Wyre Forest: 6 Crossbills flew over Lodge Hill Farm this morning (Jared Tibbetts).
